Chennai Police Arrest 10 in ₹24.54 Crore Cyber Fraud Cases
Major Arrests
Chennai Police have arrested 10 people in six cyber-financial fraud cases. The cases involved a total loss of ₹24.54 crore. Police carried out the arrests across four states. The operation covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The arrests followed a detailed investigation into suspected financial fraud networks operating across state borders.
Police Action
Four special teams handled the investigation. The teams worked with the Central Crime Branch and North Zone cybercrime police. Police tracked the suspects across several locations. The investigation also covered Delhi during the operation. Officers coordinated their efforts across different states to locate and arrest the accused persons.
Money Trail
Police found that ₹44.17 lakh had reached bank accounts linked to six arrested people. The other four suspects allegedly acted as intermediaries. Police recovered ₹42.72 lakh during the operation. The recovery helped investigators trace the money linked to the cases. Officials are examining the financial records to identify additional transactions and possible links to other suspects.
Evidence Seized
Police seized eight mobile phones during the arrests. They also recovered SIM cards and memory cards. Investigators found two bank passbooks and a cheque book. These items may help police trace financial transactions and other people linked to the fraud cases. The digital devices and banking documents are expected to provide further evidence during the investigation.
Probe Continues
The investigation is still underway. Chennai Police are working to identify other people involved in the cases. The arrests show how cyber fraud networks can operate across state borders. Police are continuing efforts to trace the remaining suspects and financial links. Investigators are also examining the role of each accused person in the alleged fraud operations.
